MPs call for business rates reform

There was a consensus that the current system does not work in a House of Commons adjournment debate.

MPs yesterday called for reform of business rates.

Agreeing that the current system does not work, MPs including Tories Nadine Dorries and Robert Courts called for a complete reform of the tax while recently-resigned minister Steve Brine spoke in favour of a system based on transactions rather than property.
